Background:
Lisa started her career at Element Consulting Engineers during the final year of her degree in 2004. She continued to work at Element as a part time Graduate Engineer during her master’s degree program and thereafter as a full time Design Engineer where she continued to gain valuable experience to eventually be appointed as the Technical Director of the Structures Department Western Cape as well as the Office Manager for the Stellenbosch Office during 2013.
In 2015 Lisa started Smart Structural Solutions with the aim of providing a personalised consulting service to both individuals, developers and fellow consultants. She is passionate not only about her field of structural engineering but also about being able to creatively develop optimal and appropriate solutions for various structural challenges.
From 2019 Lisa will no longer be based in Stellenbosch and for the foreseeable future will be travelling full-time. During this time Smart Structural Solutions will focus on providing location independent online service and support for Individuals, Architects, Developers and Quantity Surveyors. The goal is to assist clients with project feasibility review and planning without the need to overcapitalise on full structural engineering services at the preliminary project stage. This is primarily accomplished by providing conceptual structural mark-ups of drawings and preliminary structural information for costing purposes.
As not only a member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers (SAICE) and the Joint Structural Division (JSD), but also a registered Mentor for the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), commitment to the grooming, assessment and registration of future structural engineers has always been an important part of her career.
